Project Description

Description

We were awarded the contract to construct two new Golden Tamarin Exhibits at the Bergen County Zoological Park located in Van Saun County Park. In preparation for the Exhibit, we worked with the zoo director to meet their goals. We studied the habitats of the monkeys and detailed how visitors would experience their environment. Due to the small size of the Tamarin, we raised the finished floor of the exhibit and sloped the glazing towards the walkway. Doing so not only opened up the exhibit towards the canopies of the trees inside, but also eliminated glare on the glass. We suggested systems such as a large Kalwall Skylight in order to increase natural lighting, while still protecting the monkeys from the sun.
